Description
Even the long road home will feel too short.
Combining the potent torque of the BMW Boxer engine with the sophisticated design and smooth ride of a premium-touring machine, the R 1200 RT delivers an optimal mix of excitement and ergonomics. It's equally at home nimbly leaning into a Rocky Mountain pass or gliding gracefully over a grey slash of Montana highway.
A two-section adjustable seat, electric windshield, and BMW's rider-tested Paralever and Telelever suspension systems all contribute to the uncompromising comfort of the R 1200 RT – mile after mile after mile. Add to this a modular luggage system with plenty of capacity, and optional extras like the Navigator II system, and the only limit to how far you can go is how much time you take off of work and how much gas money you have in your pocket.
- Luggage System: Modular luggage system with left and right pannier cases integrated into body panels. New double-shell panniers resist distortion and are painted to match the body integrating the overall motorcycle design. A top case is easily attached viq a snug fitting four-point locking system.
- Rear Suspension: BMW Paralever with an adjustable WAD suspension strut for variable spring pre-load and rebound damping. The Paralever system virtually eliminates the forces created by the shaft drive while offering superior handling with less reaction to load reversals and increased ground clearance.
- Seat: Redesigned two-section seat can accommodate two different rider heights simultaneously allowing for comfortable knee positioning
- Transmission: The gearbox is equipped with six helical-cut gears, which contribute to the R 1200 RT's smooth ride at higher speeds.
- Engine: Carriers BMW's latest evolution of the Boxer concept, the R1200RT enjoys increased torque (+15%) and output (+ 10%) owing to the enlarge bore of the 110bhp, 1170cc, twin-spark engine. BMW's new BMS-K engine management system monitors functions. Based on CAN bus technology the engine features automatic idle-speed control, a cold-start system and knick control for problem-free use of lower quility fuel.
- Brakes: EVO braking system with BMW's part-integral ABS included as a standard component-meets the highest possible safety standards.
- Front Suspension: BMW Telelever, which combines the telescoping fork and swinging arm concept effectively dividing the multiple functions of a front end suspension system and thereby allowing them to be done to optimal effect.
- Fairing: Enhanced body design offer better turbulence resistance than the R 1150 RT with mirrors integrated into the body panels for a cohesive, modern look.
- Wheels: Elegantly designed five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels offer incredible regidity along with a streamlined aesthetic
- Headlights: Newly designed headlight produce optimal road illumination while contrituing to the motorcycle's dynamic design and appearance.
- Flat Screen: Newly designed large screen carries information on distance traveled, oil and fuel data, remaining range based on fuel supply, time and gear selection
- Windshield: Electrically adjustable windshiled offers customizable wind protection.
